About Katherine Linscott, LMFT
Hello, I’m Katherine. I also go by Rehn and use they/them pronouns. I completed my master’s degree in 2021 at Kansas State University in Couples and Family Therapy. I love being a marriage and family therapist! The lens I was trained in has given me a unique and rewarding way to view the world!
I am passionate about helping women experiencing empty nesting. As a marriage and family therapist, I enjoyed couples and families but I saw something unique in the caregivers and mothers. Where everyone else got to choose their paths, I was continually interested in the stories of caregivers that felt they could never choose what they wanted for the greater good.
Caregivers have epic stories! I was raised in a home where we spent a lot of time listening to other people’s stories about their lives. One life in particular that I connect to is my mother’s story. When my mom hit perimenopause, her story became even more important. I watched her struggle with not only the symptoms but also the isolation when she was labeled incorrectly.
Caregivers are also deep people. They have connected with their circle in deep ways (asking how school was that day, asking where an ouchy is, going without, making their home a safe place for everyone, feeling guilt if they fall short, and being aware of what others need of them). Caregivers are intuitive, wise, and comforting. I love working with a population that understands these deeper connections and know emotions.
There are so many different ways to do therapy. I am the type of therapist who is ready to go to the deep places with you. I take an approach where I will not leave you alone on your side of the room. I’m in this with you. We’ll cry together. I will witness your story. And we will come up with an action plan that aligns with who you are. I have a lot of skin in the game — not only do I truly care about my clients but I am passionate about changing norms and patterns so that future generations of caregivers can be seen.
I work best with clients who are ready to make some changes to become the person they want to become. I can’t change you but you can. My role as a therapist is to act as a guide, a witnesser, and an expert on theory and research. You will always be the expert of you and what your boundaries and needs are. Therapy will be some TLC for you — you will be valued, we’ll laugh, and you will discover your truth.
If this sounds like something that would help you, I’d love to get started.
